HP LaserJet PRO M452DW Overview

According to HP, by using the latest laser technology, HP JetIntelligence, this printer is smaller, faster, more secure more productive and more economical than its competitors. JetIntelligence uses a new type of toner particle that has a lower melt point so the fuser wire does its work at a lower temperature, requiring less energy.

With a print quality of up to 600 x 600 dpi and enhanced quality of up to 38,400 x 600 dpi using the HP ImageREt 3600, PANTONE® calibrated technology which is a standard includion.

It is both hardwired to a network by an Ethernet cable as well as having Wi-F connectivity.

For additional versatility there is a Near Field Connector (NFC) allowing mobile devices such as Smartphones, Tablets and laptops to be paired with the printer for direct download for printing. Printing options are available through the 7.6 cm intuitive colour touchscreen which is adjustable to give the best angle for visibility.

With a first page out time of 9.0 seconds for a black only print and 9.9 seconds for a colour print from the ready status it is fairly quick off the mark. From sleep mode the fast warm up a black only page takes just 11.4 seconds and 11.5 seconds for the first colour page to be printed. From then on it prints at 20 pages per minute in both colour and B&W single sided. Automatic double sided printing prints both side of the sheet at 24 pages per minute. Using the automatic duplex printing feature will reduce paper savings by up to 33%.

There are two standard paper trays. The first has a capacity of 50 sheets or 5 envelopes while the second holds up to 250 sheets or 10 envelopes. However, with a monthly duty cycle of up to 4,000 pages the optional Tray 3, with a capacity of up to 550 pages, giving a total of 850 sheets, is a strong recommendation.

All paper trays are fully adjustable and can accommodate a range of sizes from A6 up to A4, B6 to B5 and a large number of custom sizes. The output tray has a capacity of 150 sheets. Working with larger workgroups calla for diversity. Various people using a variety of devices performing a variety of tasks in a variety of locations. To meet these demands a printer needs a range of connectivity options. The HP Colour LaserJet Pro 452dw Printer offers a variety of inputs.

Network connectivity is by way of a Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/100 Base –TX network port and a Hi-speed USB 2.0 host port. There is also a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port and an easy access USB 2.0 port

Additional to the hard wired network connection there is also inbuilt Wi-Fi connection to give access to the printer from an even wider range of devices that are not network connected.  Some people are on the move and using tablets, notebooks or smartphones. To give access to such devices there is a Near Field Connector to pair them to the printer giving touch and print accessibility.

With mobile printing becoming ever more important to productivity the HP Colour LaserJet Pro 452dw Printer supports HP ePrint, Apple AirPrintTM, Wireless Direct Printing as well as Google Cloud 2.0 Mobile Apps.

The adoption of wider access to a printer can result in network security being a vital part of a printer.

The printer incorporates a high level of security to minimise the risk of someone gaining unauthorised access to the network by way of the printer.

Another consideration is that of operating costs. The rising cost of energy is becoming an increasing concern and will continue to be so in the future. The new toner formulation of HP JetIntelligence reduces the energy consumption of the latest toner printers.  With a lower melt point there is no need for the fuser wire to heat to such a high temperature as before. That results in a significant saving in energy costs over other printers in its class.

Power consumption during printing is 570W which drops to 11.6W Ready Status.  During Sleep mode it uses just 2.4W and a minimal 0.6W with Auto On/Auto off.

Like many laser printers it is not small although it is much smaller than its competitors. It measures 412 W x 469 D x 295 mm H and weighs 18.9 kg.

The standard HP 410A Black LaserJet toner cartridge will print up to 2,300 pages whereas the HP 410A LaserJet toner cartridges have a page yield of up to 2,300 pages as well. Greater economy is available by using the HP 410X will print up to 6,500 pages and the HP 410X LaserJet toner cartridges in Cyan, magenta and yellow can print up to 5,000 pages. Even greater economy can be achieved by using the automatic duplex printing feature that uses both sides of the sheet.

To maintain and ensure maximum productivity the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M452dw is eligible to be a part of the CartridgesDirect AutoMATETM  automated Ink Replenishment Program to ensure that the never HP LaserJet Pro MFP M452dw runs low on toner no matter the workload and maintains its productivity.
