Over 40% of inks tested which are non-genuine failed out of the box.
Brands that were tested were representative of what is readily available in the Australian Market. Printers tested were supplied with HP Ink and Toner supplies which were purchased by Keypoint Intelligence. For each printer model, at least three different brands of remanufactured or compatible cartridge were tested alongside an HP Original. As to not cross-contaminate the printer, each cartridge brand was tested on a printer that was only dedicated to that brand. Starter cartridges from the printer were depleted before any testing of the new HP Original, remanufactured or compatible cartridges were tested. ISO testing indicates that nine sets of cartridges of each brand are to be tested. Although in some cases, fewer numbers were tested due to availably in the market.
What are the claims;
143 Original HP Ink cartridges were tested against 474 remanufactured or compatible cartridges.
135 Original Toner cartridges were tested against 389 remanufactured or compatible cartridges.
Claims are in HP’s favour in 4 key areas of Reliability, Printer Disruptions, Image Quality and Yields. The most impactful to the customer is the Reliability and Printer Disruptions – we had seen cartridge leaking, failures, printer errors and other issues when using clone cartridges.
